Drumroll Please...

I'm finished! Finally, after much hard work, some small injuries, and many warm afternoons, I have completed my potting bench! I am thrilled as to how it turned out.
The lumber I used was reclaimed (either had been discarded or was sitting in our garage), the sink was purchased for $5 at my local Habitat for Humanity thrift store three years ago (originally for my dad, but was eventually decided against), the mesh basket was another thrift store find I've had for some time, and the back splash was an old sheet of galvanized roofing from the field beside us. Other than the lacquer I used to finish the top and the caulk for the sink, very little was spent creating this outdoor bench.

I love building things and having a chance to be creative, in most any way! My mom had been contemplating building one of these for several years and this year, she made one. It was simple and beautiful. She inspired me to try building my own. I took what I had, could find, and could do and created something useful and something I am, admittedly, proud of.

Now, I know that I say I'm finished, but from looking at the pictures, you can probably tell there is something still missing. A faucet. To be honest, I had already proclaimed my completion when Cam so kindly said, "where's the faucet?!" Hahaha...oops! So I am still hunting for an appropriate faucet for this...I'm thinking of using a simple outdoor, house spigot as a faucet to add to the rustic charm. :)

It always feels good to complete something yourself, especially something you know you will use. Be creative and never sell yourself short...you can do it if you put your mind to it (and pray a bit too!)!

Enjoy!
