I have learned so much in this year! I've learned to be a better gardener, a more creative and resourceful homesteader, a more spiritual woman, a handywoman/Mrs. Fix-it, a creative cook at times and at others, a comforting chef, but most importantly I've learned a lot about myself! And that has truly been reward enough!
Being the birthday of this simple little blog, I was hoping something wonderful would happen between life and work...but this is what I came home to today...
Yes, yes a rattlesnake in my backyard.
Now, thankfully I didn't stumble upon him first. My cat, Clyde (the orange kitty that has graced several posts), found him before I did. Clyde has not only become the neighborhood's friendliest cat (everyone knows him because he will run into any, ANY, open door...including houses, garages, cars, sheds...you name it and he's found himself there. He just LOVES attention!) but he is also the mighty hunter and protector of my homestead's humble perimeter.
Now I'm afraid there will be more. Where there's one small snake, the others probably aren't too far away! I'll be treading heavily, with a stick, and cautiously moving rocks and putting my hands into holes from now on!
But the snake was completely, almost, wiped out by the sunset that graced this day. It was more than I could have asked for:
I spent the majority of my day working away from my homestead, but as I returned this evening, I couldn't wait to spend the few hours before the sun set and night fell upon me, working in my garden! I feel so blessed!
I also want to thank you for reading and growing with me! Some of my posts are small and may seem trivial, but each one holds a special moment for me; a moment of growth, realization, and excitement. So thank you!
If one year can bring about so much change and growth, I cant wait to see what will happen in another year!
Enjoy!
~ I don't get too much feedback, but I really do enjoy reading and learning from you. So if you are ever inclined to comment, about anything, please do so knowing I love to read them! :) ~
Happy blog-birthday to you... As a new blogger myself, I totally understand what you mean about loving to get comments. I've got you on my Feedly reader and enjoy reading what you share... and hope to have similar life-lessons-learned to reflect back on when I reach my 1 year anniversary.
